Help Protect Your College Student With Home Security
By Roger Weaver
Every year thousands of women find themselves the victim of violence from apartment or townhome break-ins. College students are even more vulnerable to these attacks. Anyone who has a child living in a college apartment or townhouse can rest easy by joining the thousands of parents protecting their offspring with a system.

Living in an apartment does not mean that you have to be without extra security. Speak with your child’s landlord regarding installing a security system in their units. Those that have not done it before may be willing to allow an installation since it will increase the value of their rental unit.

ADT is the leading provider of security services around the world with over 5 million customers. The current home system offered from this provider is ADT Safewatch QuickConnect. This system has an excellent feature set and a minimally invasive install which will be a plus for your landlord. This is made possible by the wireless components.

Each control panel comes complete with three standard buttons which can allow your son or daughter to quickly call for aid. There is a button for police, fire, and medical which will immediately request emergency personnel to be dispatched to the unit to provide assistance.

The way the system works is very simple. When an alert is detected the control panel will place a call to the ADT Customer Monitoring Center (CMC). An ADT associate will then contact the number supplied to call during an emergency to verify the alarm. If the alarm is valid or no one can be contacted to indicate a

false alarm, ADT will contact the local dispatchers to send out emergency response units. This all happens in a very short period of time making it possible to get help quicker than someone could call for assistance.

A tremendous benefit of this system is that ADT has a total of five CMC locations. This provides a fail-safe should a facility suffer from a natural disaster or a power outage. ADT will immediately route coverage to another facility if one of their locations is down. Your child’s home away from home will be protected 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

ADT also offers Two-Way Voice on some of its systems. This allows the ADT Associate to communicate with your child directly through the control panel up to 75 feet away allowing them to be heard from almost anywhere within the apartment. This can be a valuable feature if your son or daughter were to be hurt and unable to reach the phone.

Additionally ADT Safewatch Cellguard is a tremendous bonus feature. This is an optional add-on and gives the control panel the ability to connect to a nearby cellular tower. If your child’s telephone line was not working this could allow the control panel to contact the CMC via cellular coverage.

All these wonderful features combined with the affordability of ADT Security Services are an excellent addition to any home, apartment, or condo. The top-notch monitoring coverage combined with the impressive high-tech features will help you to rest easy at night knowing that someone is watching over your child when they are apart from you. That guardian angel is Safewatch QuickConnect.
ADT security systems are the leading residential security systems in the U.S. ADT security can help protect your home and family with state-of-the art equipment and round-the-clock monitoring. You can't go wrong when you choose America's number-one name in home security, ADT.
